Adobe PageMill F/X and Design

UPDATE!

In the days since Adobe PageMill F/X and Design hit the streets, we've received a number of reader emails. There are a handful of items that have come to light.

CD-ROM Stuff

 • Due to an oversight in the CD-ROM mastering process, the Modern Minds Java applets were not placed on the PC side of the disc (although they are on the Mac side). Please accept our sincere apologies for this matter. You can download the applets from the Modern Minds Web site.
 • The serial number for Interleaf Jamba can be found on the CD-ROM's readme.txt file. Please note that Interleaf has temporarily taken the trial version of Jamba off their Web site ... there appears to be an issue with Jamba and Windows 98. If you are running Windows 98, it would be prudent to hold off on installing the Jamba trial version until Interleaf posts a fix.
 • Appendix A documents the Java and JavaScript resources on the original Adobe PageMill 3.0 CD-ROM ... not the CD-ROM that accompanies the book.
 • This logo file (simplink.gif)is missing from the chapter 5 folder on the CD-ROM. To save the file to your computer, right-click (PC) or click and hold down the mouse button (Mac).

Text Stuff (the following applies only to the 1st printing)

8/31/98 - In reviewing the printed book against the Macintosh PageMill 3 beta, a bunch of changes related to the Mac version's menus, keyboard shortcuts, and interface have come to light. Here's what I've come up with:

What's Up With ?

PageMill adds (non-breaking space) commands to empty table cells. This prevents the cell from healing over.

As you use the Tab key to move from cell to cell, the contents of the cell will be automatically selected, to remove the command, just type the new cell contents.
